PROCESSING METHODS FOR RUBBER / ELASTOMERS

Compression molding

Compression molding of molded rubber parts (elastomers) is a cost-effective molding process that is frequently used. This processing method is particularly suitable for small or medium-sized productions of larger workpieces that do not require high tolerances or a flawless finish.

The advantages are

  • Production of complicated workpieces
  • Low tool costs
  • Fast production

Transfer casting

As with die casting, pressure is also used in the mold for transfer casting. The key difference is that in transfer casting, a die presses the material into the mold. Transfer casting allows complex workpieces with higher tolerance requirements to be produced at high production speeds.

The advantages are

  • Production of larger workpieces
  • Maximum pressure in the mold
  • Low production costs

Injection molding

A cost-effective molding process. Rubber injection molding is the best choice for large series of small molded parts that require high tolerances. The process is the most precise because pressure, temperature and the speed at which the material is introduced into the mold are controlled.

The advantages are

  • Higher requirements for tolerances
  • High repetition level
  • Fast production
